Some holiday ideas for our Aussie healthcare practitioners

With the holiday period fast approaching we’ve compiled a list of destination ideas to inspire your planning over the summer holidays. The wellbeing of our practitioners and young doctors is of the utmost importance so get out and explore this big land of ours and unwind.

Great-Australian-WalksHiking

Margaret River in Western Australia is not only well known for its vineyards, but also its hiking trails. And if you haven’t heard of Thorsborne Trail in Hinchinbrook Island, Queensland it should be added to your bucket list if you love the outdoors.

Tasmanian road trip

Spend a week driving up Tasmania's east coast from Hobart to St Helens and let the road become your pantry: strawberries picked at Sorrell's Fruit Farm, home-made scallop pies in Bicheno, oysters and crusty Leavenbank organic bread from St Helens. Hot tip: Rent an environmentally friendly campervan and see the sights at your doorstep. Also saving you on accommodation.

The Gold Coast

The water parks are the main attraction up north for many families. For simpler pleasures, head to Southport's brilliant three-kilometre-long Broadwater Parklands. Here you will find a number of free activities for the kids like a flying fox, monorail pedal bikes and saltwater rock pools.

Biking in rural Victoria

It's hard to decide whether the best thing about Murray to Mountains Rail Trail, which threads through the Ovens Valley from Wangaratta to Bright, is the cycling, the food or the wine. Take the ‘bushranger country’ trail via Beechworth for amazing restaurants and cosy accommodation, or go off the beaten track to the gastronomic pickings of the Milawa gourmet region. Alternatively, stay on the 84-kilometre main trail to indulge at places like Gapsted Wines, Bright Berry Farms and the Bright Brewery, among other places. The most difficult part of this activity might be getting back on the bike!

Swim with whale sharks ningaloo-reef-western-australia-swimming-with-whale-shark

You'll never forget your first underwater vision of a whale shark near Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia. A plane circles overhead and when a shark is spotted, passengers on the boat cruising below don snorkelling gear and get ready to dive.

Camping

Camping is a great opportunity to unwind and relax. For a secluded camping spot look up Cox River, hidden deep in the Blue Mountains,NSW.
