The Safety and Quality Commission and Improvements in diagnosis

The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare coordinates key improvements in safety and quality in health care. 

Key functions of the Commission include:  
* developing national safety and quality standards 
* developing clinical care standards and 
* providing information, publications and resources about safety and quality.  

Our presenter, Assoc Professor Amanda Walker, is a Clinical Director at the Commission, a Specialist in Palliative Medicine and a key contributor for ANZA SIDM (Society to Improve Diagnosis), in which MIPS has collaborated with in recent years. Amanda will highlight recent key improvements from the Commission’s recent activities and relate such work to the ongoing efforts of ANZA SIDM to improve diagnosis in the Australian health care system. The elements discussed can assist all members improve safety and quality in their practice and minimise risk.
